Yes, I've just ordered a 12" Walnut Dobson 19-fret tenor banjo for playing Bach's cello and violin music. Ordered from Eagle Music in England - I live in Scotland - but they have to wait a week for the walnut arm rest to arrive.
I authored a Bach for Tenor Banjo book for Mel Bay some years back, and for the sound files of Bach's first three cello suites I used three different banjos: Deering Eagle II, GoldTone Cello, and a JayBird gut-strung gourd tenor.
Now it's time for the Pisgah!
I want a warm but clear sound, and decent to good sustain, so I ordered the Dobson and the 12" walnut pot. That might be perfect as is, but I can always experiment with bridges, and maybe someday a skin head. I'm seeking the perfect Bach banjo!
I won't play jazz or Irish music, just Bach for this banjo. Looking forward to its arrival! I'll let you know what I think of it in due course.
