A few months ago I purchased a Turbo Module used. I got to tell you I love it. I've been running the Turbo module through my SWR Strawberry blonde straight to the board for most of my gigs and has pretty much eliminated all of my problems being heard when we play in loud venues. I really like blending both the Emg and the Piezo for different sounds.
I could never turn up the piezo to full volume on mine without feedback. I read somewhere that others just don't turn theirs up all the way to aviod problems. And honestly I wanted more of the sound it gave at certain times.
Luckily, I have a friend that fixes electric guitars, speakers amps and such and he went through it and found a solution for me, so I wanted to share it with you all in case you might want to try it, to get more volume out of the piezo.
In addition to the ground that gets mounted to the tailpiece, he soldered another ground to the metal ring and the jack. (see the attached picture. It is the brown wire.) He also tapped a screw into the ring to attach the ground wire.
He also found that my Turbo module also needed a shield between the pickups and my body and the solution we came up with was just a little foil tape taped to a piece of 1/2 in flexible foam that pressure fits in the module. (second picture)
So far 3 gigs no feedback at all at full gain on either pickup, and it hasn't started to smoke, I haven"t been electrocuted or anything.
Take care,
Keith
