I played rhythm guitar and sang in a local band for 20 years. I inherited 4 banjos from my father in law, one of which is a 1927 Gibson Tb-3 Mastertone converted to a 5 string. Pot, resonator and original neck all have same FON - 8824-33. Also replaced old Grover Pat. tuners for better tuning stability. Sold all but the Gibson, then had to buy a travel banjo. I got the GoldTone AC-1, added resonator and armrest and have used that to learn on. ( The Mastertone weighs about 12 lbs, the AC-1 about 5lbs.)
