Anyone using their Nechville for old time?

From Ragtimejoe on 7/28/2013 8:11:26 AM

I'm thinking of getting the timbertronic tone ring and using my resonator Nechville for oldtime as well as bluegrass.

Anyone tried this? Results?

Thanks

Joe

I use mine for frailing, Scruggs as well as melodic.
With very positive comments of the sound. Not necessarily my picking/frailing. I have it set up specifically for playing different styles. I am really happy with it. My teacher plays both styles with resonater banjo as well. He said he was trying to get the sound I have out if his Deering. He uses a fiberskin head and custom bridge. I use a rennasaince head and recently went with a lighter bridge string combo and tightened up tge head good
and like it. It responds to lighter touches more loudly for frailing and gives a great bluegrassy sound for picking. I went with GHS 140 strings. Tom built me a 25 gram bridge .770 tall at the notch at the third stringe. Great combo.

The bridge weight is 2.5 gram not 25 gram. Please excuse the typo and other mistakes.

I've used my Nechville Vintage for Clawhammer before and I thought it did really, really well. I'll try to post a recording sometime soon.
