Amplifying my Nechville Zeus

From cbskibum on 9/16/2012 12:00:06 PM

I'm in the market for a pickup. Wondering about your experiences, if you guys/gals have found pickups that work better than others or if there were some that didn't work at all? Any advice or experiences would be helpful. Thanks.

Keith if you go with a pickup that mounts under the head, you will need a t-bracket to mount it. You can order from us.

Thanks,

Al

It depends on what type of playing you are looking at doing and how loud the band gets. There are the clip on mic type pickups (Gold Tone), or the one that fascinates me the most for anything in a very loud setting - the Kavanjo system.

I'm extremely happy with the Fishman Rare Earth pickup and I think it's generally regarded as one of the best if not the best. This week Tom was talking about a fantastic new pick-up system he's discovered but I don't know the details yet...

I was going to try and hook my schatten up to mine to see if the bracket will work with the nechville tension hoop thing.. at a glance .. it looks as if it will. you can get one with a volume knob and bypass the preamp..

I've been meaning to post a thank you for a while. I appreciate your comments. I got lucky and was able to pick up a fishman used that another guy I jam with wasn't using. The guys in the shop shiped the mounting bracket and I received it I 2 days. Lucky for me to because it works well and with the addition of a quality directional mic for the boost and a preamp it still sounds like a banjo. The mounting brackets are key because there is no way I would have figured out how to mount either the pickup or the jack with what Fishman provided and the helimount setup. Thanks again for all your input and Al Price and the guys in the shop. I ordered the bracket on a Thursay afternoon and it made it to my home in Seattle on a 4aturay afternoon in time for band practice. @ 25 bucks its a bargain

Keith, could you post a picture of the bracket mounted in your banjo?
