Greetings fellow Nechvillians,
Well, I've had my new Phantom for about two weeks now and it's a beauty. I had Tom and his crew to build it with a more traditional headstock and add a large star to it. It also has a sapele block rim. Has a nice bluegrassy sound, but with a sweetness to it. My wife said on FaceBook that it makes her want to dance and she has a very bad knee, so that's saying something (when I play my others, she usually wants me out of earshot). I ordered based on info I found on the Nechville website, YouTube clips and the extensive comments so many of the Nechville owners have put here on BHO; I had no direct accessibility to any Nechville instrument to try them (kinda at the end of the musical world here in NW FL). Fellow owners are well-founded in their support for these instruments; they are incredibly creative, well-made banjos. Best neck I've ever used and I thought my Stelling couldn't be beat. Had to tighten the head last night (new banjo head sag)--took about 5 minutes--had to chuckle. I've taken some photos and will post them on my Homepage if you'd care to take a look. Think I'll go do some pickin' before I head to bed.
