Me thinks that was taken in about 1960, give or take, in New York's Washington Square Park.

From the looks of the fretboard color difference between the first 3 frets and the rest, looks to be an early add on extension, possibly D'angelico ?

Very cool! A classic photo that belongs in the annals of any longneck aficiando!

@Harry: D'Angelico was already in ill health in those days and wasn't doing much specialty work. He and Jimmy D'Aquisto were focused on getting the orders out for his archtop guitars. He had stopped making mandolins entirely by then and mine was probably the last from-scratch long neck he made. He didn't finish it. I took it to Noah Wulfe for that. It looks like Pete Seegers, but is made of mahogany not ironwood. Noah could have done this one and so could Pietro Carboni.

Dave is either zonked on Village reefer, or he's about to murder a tourist square--maybe both.

Thank you all!

Linked by jbakervt 2 years ago: The religious basis of authority in the Middle East (or anywhere for that matter) is the source of a lot of suffering and is unsustainable. The violence is mostly perpetrated on women and children.

Linked by jbakervt 2 years ago: A sad murder ballad of a sort. Some murderers wear nice clothes and use pens and paper to kill and never see their victims.

MP3: Take The Wheel
Linked by jbakervt 2 years ago: A song about mentorship, inspired by my mentor and HIS mentors too, that takes the form of the story of a ship’s mate being “shown the ropes”. The old sea captain may also have been a long-neck player
