Ailing Ode on Ebay

From wesrichards on 8/7/2013 1:56:23 AM

This looks like an easy fix and a bargain if the price doesn't rise too much:

no truss rod in the early ones?

Apparently not. After your comment, I looked them up in google images and it looks like you're right.

But it's a laminated, flipped and rotated neck. I remember the brochure, first carved peghead and heels I ever saw. Ian Mcpherson bought his for 179.95 case incl. but a little nicer model,

I bought this banjo last week on eBay. I'm pretty excited about the purchase. You can see the story (so far) on the ODE group here at banjo hangout. I'm stickin' with the idea that it's really a 1961 Model 21 "C"-grade long neck until somebody proves otherwise. The serial number to my mind is that "53" stamped into the dowel stick. There's no other numbers on the banjo.

Doesn't matter what it is. It's a prehistoric ode and like all of them, it's going to be great. Congrats.

If it sounds half as good as it looks, it's a champ! Nice work. Any chance you can post an MP3?

Also, I enjoy your blog. Wish you'd write more.

Thanks for the kind words, Wes. MP3 will appear eventually. Writing ... is. very. slow. :(
