Is it worth it?

From hoodoo on 12/10/2017 5:01:35 AM

This listing will probably be gone by the time I'm ready to buy a long neck. I was just wondering if its a good deal?

I'm currently saving up to buy a Gold Tone MM150LN (the one that I can eventually afford). Has anybody ever played it? The reviews on banjo hangout are pretty positive.

What should I look for in a longneck banjo? I'm looking to spend less than $1500 CAD.

seems like a good price. shipping could be a problem without a case.
long neck values are very soft right now (Vega PS-5 on reverb for $1900) for example. the used market can offer some excellent values.
$800 range should include Gibson RB175, Vega Folklore, Bacon Belmont & folk model as well as the Goldtones. at this price, it is possible to find excellent examples in hard cases...make offers...most long necks are sitting for months if not years.
Paul at Shop the Folk has some great buys. he's a member here.
nothing wrong with the Goldtones but with your budget, you could get a new White Lady LN, in a hard case...maybe an OT800LN.

I read that the White Ladies and the Maple Mountains are pretty much the same thing, major difference is the look. I'm thinking about waiting out a bit longer and trying to save up for the OT800LN. I guess that only time will tell.
