I want to try playing in Sawmill tuning and other tunings but in open mode(no capo) on my long neck. Looking for the deeper key. So here is the following need to know if it is right. I have seen a lot of charts that show tunings for different keys for 22 fret banjos but nothing for a long neck.

ebeg#b Open E ebeab ?????

Do any of you real musicians have any ideas?

The easy answer is – but the capo on your long neck banjo at the third fret and tonight as if it were a 22 Fred banjo. Then remove the capo and return on the fifth string down so that it matches the first string on the fifth fret. There is an easy answer and a musical theory based answer. The easy answer is – put the capo on your long neck banjo at the third fret and tune it as if it were a 22 fret banjo. Then remove the capo and retune the fifth string down 3 half steps. Bingo.

	wizofos says: 5/8/2017 7:12:29 AM Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas. As soon as I can get a few chores done I am going to see what I can do with the LN Sawmill tuning. This biggest problem I am going to have is converting from my custom wide 22 fret neck to the skinny Silvertone long neck, but nothing comes free I guess.
