Changing Strings - How often?

I am curious as to how often uke players change their strings. I change steel strings more often than nylon and guitar and octave mandolin more often than mandolin and banjo, but these uke strings have been on for over a year. Should I be changing them?

	rendesvous1840 says: 5/28/2013 8:57:04 PM I keep a low G on my tenor, and change them when the windings get too worn and start to break. With a high G, there are no wound strings. If I feel worn areas where the strings are rough, I change them. Since sweat in your hands doesn't affect nylon like it does steel, they last a long time. We had a set on my wife's for 3 years, as she doesn't play nearly as much as I do. She keeps a high G on hers. If you notice the strings are hard to get in tune, it's probably time.
	AllanJ says: 6/29/2013 3:06:23 AM Too infrequently is probably the most honest answer! Maybe every six months. With no wound strings there's not much evidence of wear, but they do sound better when I change them. Trouble with nylon strings they do take a while to settle in.
