Noam Pikelny. Julep contains these absurdly beautiful sporadic wildflowers of notes that sparked an obsession. This is a fine rabbit hole and I refuse to leave.

"Theoretically, we could evangelize the banjo to the point where Chinese mass-produced banjos of acceptable quality decorate the walls of big box music stores across the nation. Well-meaning uncles will gift their disinterested nephews banjos for Christmas. Aspiring garage bands will have three banjo players, so the worst of them has to learn the bass instead. That ubiquitous college crooner on the uni lawn will play three chord songs not on her guitar, but her banjo. Banjos for sale on craigslist will number in the dozens in any given locale. Young professionals will call for their self-driving Uber cars with a banjo in hand for daily practice on commutes. It's evolution, dear Watson/I have a dream..."
