From vhntr1 on 2/11/2015 4:38:51 PM

I'm new to the group and to playing,I started playing 6 weeks ago ,never played an insterment before.I started out with a low end starter and didn't like it ,I am headed to Mr Hatfields on Sunday to pick up my new buck creek. I will be making the trip from Ohio and hope the weather holds can't want to get it here a lot of good things about his banjos.

Wowee. Playing 6 weeks and you're already getting a Hatfield? Cool! Just be aware that what you're doing is sort of like learning how to drive in a Ferrari. It can certainly be done, but it isn't exactly forgiving of the normal beginner mistakes - it'll squawk them to the world. Just understand that and you'll do fine. And count your lucky stars - few beginners have the good fortune to start out on a banjo that good!

Your a lucky guy, picking it up is the best. You will find as I did your playing improves as soon as you pick it up. Just keep in mind that you dont have to have to fret the strings with so much pressure, my starter banjo had to really press to get a clear tone, that was the hardest thing to get used to. also with the right hand picking way to hard to get some sound.

You sound like a very savvy person to have caught on this quickly to this stuff. Good Luck and in the words of Winston Churchill "Never Give Up!"
