I love old timey and specially Gourd Banjo,s,But have never seen or heard one for real .They are a rarity in my state of South Australia. We have a session every 2 weeks for about 15-20 of us and an Old Time String Band in its formative state. I have a fretless mahoganey neck, violin tuners Nylgut strings and goatskins ready.Have had trouble sourcing suitable Gourd Now how to attach the head I am unsure wether to make a tackhead or one i have seen laced to the head with hide on studs.set into the gourd The laced one has sliding toggles allowing tension adjustment. Ths is my first banjo building effort having only made a Mcspadden dulcimer from a kit.Can someone with experience give me some guidance????
