I have a 2003 Maple Blossom which I really like. I keep reading about people not liking the Deering tailpiece and replacing it with something else. Mine sounds good to me which is really all that counts but I am wondering what a bad tailpiece sounds like anyway? If anybody has replaced their tailpiece with something, what did you hear, what did you do, and how do you like it?

	rudykizuty says: 12/15/2014 1:56:15 PM Not sure that it's a matter of having a "bad tailpiece" as much as there being others that are preferred for whatever reason. To me, a truly bad tail piece would be one that creates unwanted overtones. I don't experience that with my Deering, but that's not to say there aren't other tail pieces on the market that may improve the sound. For example, many plectrum players like me prefer the old Oettinger or Richelieu style "finger" tailpieces because the amount of string pressure across the bridge can be adjusted individually.

It is rock solid and the ability to adjust the angle of the strings up to the bridge can be highly advantageous. I honestly don't think you can have a better tailpiece. Just my opinion.

	Jesse13 says: 1/26/2015 5:17:05 AM As far as strings go, I have had great luck with the Elixir Strings Banjo Strings with Polyweb Coating. They hold their tone for quite a while and are very durable. I have a Maple Blossom I love the tailpiece. Something as simple as a professional set-up could take care if it as well. Good luck, you can't go wrong with a Deering
	KYSLOWFINGERS says: 1/29/2015 10:54:21 AM I have no problem with any of my 3 Deering tailpieces to start with. AND, don't want to de-rail this thread, but my Maple Blossom is also an '03. It seems everytime I see the Maple Blossom mentioned it's an '03 LOL Must have been a big year for them, OR someone counterfeited them and put the same serial number on all of them LOL
