Funny you ask, I was just working with my Eagle II today. I replaced the original Deering bridge with a Farquhar 5/8 bridge with taqua nut inserts and matched it up with d'Addario 11-14-17-26w (nickel wrap) strings. I can't put it down!

PS: I play plectrum.

I love my Sierra, but moaned every time I pick it up, so thought I'd give Gary Vann's carbon fibre tone ring. Love it! Weighs next to nothing and no significant tonal difference.

The slack in the standard tuning pegs was annoying, so swapped them out for Keith tuners.

Went through what seemed like dozens of bridges, but finally I'm happy with the Purcell 5/8 married up with a standard Remo frosted top and GHS strings.

My Golden Wreath has been perfect from day one. I play before I buy, and this policy has not let me down. I played several Golden Era's and Wreaths before I found this one, and it is a keeper.

I have a bridge that Steve Davis made for me. I put it on this week. I recently tride Elixir strings.(Golden Era)I not to crazy about the coated string. I think it takes some of the sound away.

prestq1 Carbon fiber tone ring. I remember when I was bike racing and carbon fiber frames. Most of us stuck with the Titanium we were skeptical. It turned out they were nice and stiff cornered well and strong. I am curuse to here a tone ring like yours.

Deering Goodtime 17-Fret.
Replaced the bridge. Lowered the action at the nut a bit - made fingering easier. Added an EZ-Resonator - definitely made it louder.
Changed strings back-and-forth CGDA-GDAE, but have settled on CGDA.

I have a goodtime special. I put an old compensated bridge(Stewart-Macdonald) I had from years ago. It did make a difference.

I have a 2003 Maple Blossom and it came with a saggy old something on it. I spent about 150 bucks on about 10 different bridges which I still have if you need one. I finally replaced it with a Katz Eye Kat Eyz 5/8 compensated rosewood peg topped Maple McCormick Spice factory floor. I love it. After fiddling around with various strings, I have landed on Bill Keith Lights with the wound phosphorus 4th. Believe it or not, a Banjomate Thinline armrest has also improved the tone and the comfort. It is a richer tone. Go figure.

I swapped out the Deering tailpiece on my GDL for a German made Oetinger type which I had gold plated by Huber. I can adjust the down pressure of each string individually.
