yes I can see why you have the Z. ( what does it stand for, by the way, I havent been able to think of a girl's name starting with Z yet?)
There's high profile girls' band here in NZ called "The Marys" which Mary thought was funny. We used to be called "The Cox's Creek Bluegrass Band" at one stage as we came up with the name when we first played at a local festival (quite some time ago now) but changed the name as we evolved into a rock,pop,blues,country, (with a bit of nearly everything else thrown in). I play banjo(usually electric) whenever they let me or else bass guitar
We are doing a new web site this year as we lost our "free" one that was provided by our former agency/promoter. Will let you know when we are back up. Thanks for your interest. I love your music

Self control is pretty cool. It is different than "am i vein" and " so hot".
I think "self control" could use some of the " New wave"?!? type of sounds mixed in to it . where as "am I vein" and "so hot" could use some BANJO mixed in.. I think that would be a cool mix of styles. Good work to you and your son.

Now that goes against my grain. When I electrofied my banjo the whole POINT was to show the world that a banjo could be used to make effects/sounds just like a heavy metal guitar can. I dare say I proved my case. My link below has some songs with "heavy metal banjo" or "metal" in the names (a good ex. is ROAD RAGE) and those are the ones that people often tell me to get an electric guitar. But everyone knows one can play metal music on a guitar, the point was to do it on a banjo.

yeah lets not pideon hole the banjo - there's plenty of folk keeping tradition going which is as it should be - but tradition started as inovation not simply endlessly photocopying the past - what does how it's ment to be played mean ? fretless stroke style ? frets are a modern thing after all - finger picking kinda of crossed over from the allowed -to-be-extreme guitar
the banjo has moved to OT, bluegrass, blues, classical, irish, jazz no problems - some outsiders just think a banjo is a easy to play plunky plunky thing - lets not back up such silliness our selves - the banjo is good enough to move into new areas & always has

"extreme" is relative of course - as to screaming electric banjo's clearly not for everyone but I can see one might be great fun (sort of the point) - and I don't really have any wish to play a guitar - everyone plays those and I just love the banjo....

Two of my all time favourite bands The Dead Brothers(swamp rock/funeral march band from Switzerland) and The Hoodangers(Dixie/trad jazz/Punk from Australia) both have some outstanding Banjoists

All this talk of electric banjo. Does anyone that has direct tv or dish network. check on RFD-tv and find the old Porter Wagonner shows. The banjo player has an electric banjo.( Buck Trent did this in the late 60's! ) I guess he still does play in Branson.

A lovely man in his 90's attended our concert at Cal Tech last year because he said his deceased wife (who would have been married to him over 78 years if she was still living) was named Mary Cox.
