I have seen nothing on his passing last Sunday, was it a cruel hoax?? If it was it was an elaborate one. Is there nobody on here that heard this or knows/remembers who he is??

If there's a thread and I missed, I'm sorry and please delete this one.

Apparently it is true. I had seen him on Hee Haw as a kid. He was like a young Carl Jackson. I was just on his website.
I did not know what a wonderful singer and guitarist he was. RIP

Here’s what I found.  To see the video clip you have to go to Hee Haw Roadhouse on Facebook.

Copied from his Facebook site.  May he R.I.P.

"It is with great sadness that we announce that Jimmy Henley passed away on Sunday, March 22.

Most knew him as a gifted entertainer with a signature talent on the banjo, who had an amazing career with the Roy Clark organization for over 26 years, first on Hee Haw and then on major television shows and stages all over the world. He had a number of music albums to his credit, and had played with many music icons over the years.

But much more than that, Jimmy was an incredible human being who was dedicated to his faith, family and friends. There was nothing he wouldn't do for anyone needing help.

Jimmy, we will miss you. Rest in Peace."

Rest in peace, Jimmy.

You were a great inspiration to probably thousands of youngsters who wanted to play banjo just like you. We will miss you so much.

Wow, this is sad news. He and I were about the same age. I remember looking at the TV Guide every week too see if he was going to be on Hee Haw. If he was, then I suffered through the corny jokes, cassette recorder in hand, to record his segment. Then I would wear out the tape trying to steal a couple of licks from him. He was a prodigy for sure. RIP sir.

I knew who he was but aside from his picking on Hee Haw, I could never find out any more about him. He was a phenomenal picker, even as a kid, and I wish I could find out more about his career.

I’m shocked, what was he, maybe 60? I tried to google his obit but found none. A great talent gone. Sorry for his family and close friends.

Buck has an Ode,too.
Some seemed to prefer the Ode,especially over Gibson's 70s models.

Looks like Jimmy had hit a growth spurt just previous to this show!  Awesome picking by him and Marty (looking a bit like Bob Ross : ) )

I have the Lester live album from Vanderbilt (circa 1974), with Kenny Ingram on the 5, and a 15 yr old Marty doing "dueling mandos" with Bill Monroe on Rawhide.  I always thought it was great that Kenny didn't capo, just played it out of C... I learned his version, and still play it that way to this day.  Not nearly as flashy as Jimmy though!

I miss Jimmy Henley too! I never met him, but he was an awesome and talented musician, besides a banjo picker! At the time that he was a kid, he was one of the smoothest banjo pickers that I had ever seen! I hope that he and Earl both entertain everyone in Heaven! May you rest in peace Jimmy!
