I played at the last Shelter Valley Folk Festival today.  The Artists' Village had a henna artist doing people's legs and hands.  I asked her if she'd try a banjo head and she agreed.  It may not last, but I sure love the way it looks now.  Thanks Emma!

A few years ago my wife got some Henna art on her arms and hands when we were in the Arabian desert, it lasted longer than I thought

I think it looks great, too. I believe if I were going to have it done, it would be on a hide head, rather than a plastic one. It might last better.

That is amazing! Can you seal it with some type of finish to make it permanent?

I have seen a few banjos with Celtic designs on their resonators (online) but never one like this!

I saw one banjo mandolin with a Celtic design on the head, but I thought there is no point buying something I can't hear or someone reputable can't recommend.

I once, a couple of decades ago,  put a Celtic design on my tenor banjo head with a permanent Sharpy.  I wanted a brighter sound, so I replaced the skin head with mylar and gave the head to my friend, Ted, whose hide head had split.  It's still on Ted's banjo and still quite visible, but not nearly as pretty as the one Emma did on mine Saturday.

My son, Clayton's rockabilly band, The Quick Shifters, was playing at a custom car show and Clay got one of the pin-stripers to do his Gretsch.

Jim, Rad Gretsch! I'm not a guitarist but, wow! - I'm surprised more don't do this.
