Rick, Without seeing it, I'd suspect your rosewood Paramount pot with gold hardware was from a Leader Special. It was basically a Leader with slight changes in purfling and gold plated metalwork.

Ms. Machina, thanks for the tour of your dumpster rescue - it looks human again! The only thing I see that might be an issue is a possible twist in the neck. It may just be the photo. At any rate, she looks positively musical again; congrats! Always nice to know another tenor player.

i think it may be the photo..light side makes it look like the head is uneven or the neck twisted...it's pretty straight, perhaps not perfect, but not nearly as terrible as that photo makes it ;) i'll try to take another...the strings dont have any buzz i can hear. i'll play around with a steel straight edge and get back to you on that. :)

Tenorfiend, thank you.  I was certainly leaning in the Leader direction, but the gold plating didn't match usual specs...though I'm fully aware that most companies will do anything a customer wants...for a price.  So Leader Special.  Makes sense.

I'll dig it out from under a bunch of other parts and talk to my pal Marro about getting some rosewood for the neck.   The pot looks like Brazilian, though I know they also used Indian.   Yeah, it might be nice as an open back 5 string.   Andy DePaule  has Paramount inlay sets for sale, but not Leader.  Hmmm.  Might have to get out the old jeweler's saw.   Or get Eli to program it.

Wow your new treasure is the bomb Ms. Machina! I was laughing at myself when I looked through the pictures of it, I sounded like the 4th of July, because as each photo was enlarged on the screen I kept saying Eww... Ahh...

I think that in the future it'll blow people's mind when you tell them that this one was rescued from the can
