Fantastic! I was at a big Bluegrass jam recently and there was a young lady who had a brand new Madison RK-R36 and I was VERY impressed with it. It must not have been USA made as you are just now setting up production, but boy it played, looked and sounded great. And a what great bargain. She was so pleased!
So where will the shop be? What town and state?
RB5 - Posted - 12/16/2012: 16:51:25
Great to see that you finally found your way home Greg! American made! Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
grich - Posted - 12/16/2012: 17:13:50
Thanks RB5
We are pretty excited about this project and hopefully we can now supply our dealers with
another choice in American Made banjos. ![]()

That peghead on the left looks like a pattern I did for a customer on his RK a couple years ago. We 'customized' it. I like the looks of both of them-![]()

Nice looking Necks! Love my RK35, so I might just have to buy the mahogany M-7! You know, for when I need it. Based on my experience with the 35, I know these will be great banjos. Good luck!

Obviously Grich is confusing corn cob jelly with a corn cob jam he experienced in the out house from his childhood days! ![]()

The whiskers on the M-7 peghead are a definite improvement from the previous mock-up.
Great job.

Well informed pickers all know what Greg Rich and crew did for Gibson banjo's in the late 80's. Then those great Rich and Taylor banjo's in the early 90's. Knowing this, and that a few of his crew from then are working on these USA RK's. Give's me every reason to believe these should be some of the finest banjo's this country has EVER produced.
Also the many other banjo enthusiast and craftsmen involved as well, including the BHO community. Great things are on the banjo horizon. The USA RK line is sure to be a value.
It's all about the Banjo and the pickers! I am very excited to say the least and thrilled to be involved in some small way.
Thanks to Greg and The Music Link for charging ahead even in such difficult times in this great country's history. Kudos ! ![]()

Ron and I only talk together everyday and he is quite thrilled with this project and the road it might open up for so many banjo enthusiasts. What species of rosewood and where did the mahogany come from, i.e., country of source Greg. Exact description of woods utilized in the new line would be beneficial in many ways for promotion. Will the same woods be available down the road? I know that Ron knows but would enjoy hearing from The Source - Greg. Michael chez tymburrs That Georgia Boy, Ron is pretty good, dang good!
edweber - Posted - 12/18/2012: 17:43:23
The build is going smoothly with the Gold Sparkles; pictures forthcoming soon from Greg. I finished lathe turning and custom fitting the wood rims to each pair of tone rings and flanges. Also installed the truss rods and glued the fingerboards on.
Gotta get the pictures off to Greg... will take more & keep you posted.

Hi Greg and everyone!
Ron Coleman is doing a find job here in South, GA keeping banjos set up and repaired!
You will all like his work on the new Recording Kings. He can get the most out of a five
string.
Merry Christmas to all and God Bless!

tymburrs - Grich may well be interested in the pink ivory for the pink flamingo model that is in the works. Big sales in Florida are expected for that model ![]()

Awesome! I personally like these "Recording King" logo inlays way much better than the "boxed-in" logo type. I feel they fit better with the over all classy design of a banjo and inlay decorations. Now I'm going to have to find a distributor music shop locally and see what they have to offer.
grich - Posted - 12/30/2012: 15:09:17
Spy photos taken at our brand new USA Recording King Factory located somewhere in the Nashville TN area show some signs
of banjo production that will be on display at the winter NAMM show ...... Right Mr. Weber !
