hahahah you KNOW you want one!! With this one, I think I had to pretty much promise the wife that my next banjo hunting days were over! The guys make 11" rims as well and they make three basic models...or "base models" I would call them as all banjos come with your choice of either Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Persimmon and Black Locust. They are even working out a Persimmon tone-ring model that they have available as well. Patrick told me that my Dobson heel prototype neck banjo turned out so well...he may have a few Dobson heeled banjos available for purchase here soon. The price is certainly right...I am getting all that banjo for just a measly U$S 1,100....which is a steal for a luthier made banjo no?
Shawn I know most folks would prefer probably either Cherry neck/rim combo or Walnut neck/rim combo....but I decided to mix it up

William your new banjer looks beautiful....you got the Dobson tone-ring and mine the Dobson heel. I wonder if that Dobson style brass tone-ring will make the banjo alot heavier? It looks great with all the walnut...very nice!

Havent received your banjo yet? USPS usually is pretty good. Mine will be here in Argentina on February 7th...we just bought the plane tickets on LANChile for my mom to fly down here to Argentina and see my son, her grandson for the first time. I will have my new Pisgah and two new tab books as well.
Sometime this week I will send Patrick the gig-bag and have him ship it to my moms house in Florida to get ready for her trip down to Argentina early next month.

Rick - At one time, shipping things to Argentina was a good idea and things could be shipped here fairly reasonable and there were very few import restrictions. With this new govt ( which is heavily alligned with Chavez of Venezuela and Youssef of Brazil ) all that has changed and the Argentine govt now "punishes" anyone that buys outside of the country with heavy taxes and long waits at their customs control centers....all to discourage foreign purchases and involuntarily force the argentine people to have to buy stuff they dont want...namely their own products.
I could have the banjo shipped her but I would have to pay half of the retail price in taxes plus it could be 3 to 6 months before I actually would see it released from customs. I heard the Arg govt has literally miles of rows of containers at their ports of stuff ordered from outside the country that they havent even processed yet. There are alot of economic and social problems here right now.
I just booked my mom a flight on LAN/Chile airlines last night, she is coming February 7th to see her new baby grandson...and bringing my banjo in tow as a carry-on. Down the road I can get a Chinese banjo case for it here if I need to but at least the banjo will be here. LOL

Eric....I always forget how hard it is for you to get things to Argentina. I was thinking that Patrick could put it in a hard case to ship to your mom in Florida. Then the banjo would be protected all the way through. You can get a good TKL or Superior hard case for a little over $100 through Amazon. Rick

If I buy a hardshell case, then she will have to send the banjo underneath with the luggage and not be allowed to carry it as a carry-on. She has to make a connection in Santiago de Chile and change planes. I wouldnt want to risk it being broken or anything happening to it..

Rick - I wouldnt worry... everytime I have traveled with my banjos ( 2 round trips from Argentina to Miami and back,an almost 9 hour flight ) their is no problem with carry ons. As a matter of fact,alot of the foreign carriers will let you take "2" carry ons as opposed to one. When you board the plain, just ask the stewardesses to let you stow the banjo in the galley closet where they keep their coats....the banjo slides right in there and fits rather nicely.But in a gig-bag they will also fit in the overhead bins as well.

Whoaa! You ordered two Pisgah's? If I ever ordered another one it would be an "A" scale fretless with a brass overlay, just because my current Pisgah doesn't have it....so I would want my second one to be a bit different.
Well my Pisgah made it safe and sound...my mom brought it down to Argentina when she came to visit last month. It seems like a "duck to the water" I have taken to fretless...I don't find it super difficult at all...just different. For your viewing pleasure, here are some pics of my Pisgah attached.

We have the police working on this but still no leads yet....it's been 3 weeks now.

Guys it's worse than bad luck...I'm believing they are going to turn up sooner than later...I have lot's of eyes and ears on this. It's the only banjo of it's kind in the entire country. But it's very disconcerting.....we have since really beefed up security, our neighbors too. We have put iron bars over the windows, expanded the alarm system and then we are putting an iron grate door over our front door with two dead bolt locks. Argentina has some of the lowest crime in lartin america traditionally but it's changing, you have to be more preventative now and very vigilant...it wasn't nearly as bad as this 5 years ago when I got here.

Here I am.....with my long lost friends!! A bit dirty, stinky.....looks like they've been in a place with a dirt floor in a slum somewhere...but no marks or damage....even got my cases plus the tuners and my Tim Purcell bridges back. The only thing missing was my Joe Hooks thimble pick...I need a new one of those now jajajajaja
