I was wearing my BHO Union T shirt this past weekend at a State Park in East Texas where we went camping. From across the camp grounds, a couple of camp sites away, a woman who saw my shirt called out, "BANJO HANGOUT....YEAHHH!"
jbell - Posted - 03/29/2011: 14:19:48
The name is fine with me, wear my shirts proudly. What I'm waiting for is a Banjo Hangout Players Intervention. If I go more than two weeks without buying something for my banjo, I feel like a bad banjo parent. Is this wrong?
Sultans of Claw - Posted - 03/29/2011: 14:44:28
Intervention conjures a lot of negative, Spearish, Lohanish, and Sheenish negative connotations in these modern times.

BHO sticker will go above this one on the back of my truck...

From wikipedia,
A club is an association of two or more people united by a common interest or goal.
Banjo Hangout Players Club
Make up T shirts with both next time around and offer a choice.
More people will join if they have a choice. People like it when they have more choices.
Now wasn't that easy.
I'll take my share of the proceeds by paypal thank you very much.
feldspar1333 - Posted - 04/02/2011: 09:29:27
And for people who do not like the word "club" (because it can also mean a striking weapon), please have a shirt that says, "Banjo Hangout Players Association".
Just offer three choices. Wasn't that easy?![]()

This is even simpler - leave it as it is and don't let the people who can't take the time to understand their own language PC this into yet another fine mess.
I'm sick of seeing this site lose usefulness because of the constant nagging of the PC police.
We've all lost signatures because a few people insisted on making up extreme political or religious signatures.
We all lost the ability to edit posts because some people insisted on editing earlier posts to eliminate their own profoundly hate filled statements.
Now after several years of happy co-existance as the Banjo Players Union, a couple of those people who are always looking for a fight have decided to attack now.
Think about what motivates these attacks. These are the people who in real life feel they never win anything, so they have decided to win by spoiling things for everyone. They are not happy but that has nothing to do with banjos, the hangout, or unions - of any kind.
They simply are not happy, and they will not even be happy when they make everyone else unhappy too. They will feel some sort of petty victory for a while, but pretty soon they will seek out another target. Maybe they will decide Hangout is where drug users get stoned and want to call it a Meeting Place or Bazarre.
It is time to stop letting the malcontents run the show.

feld maybe some shirts can be made for select members with association as long as the last word is abbreviated that is.
Good thing for me I will never own one huh?![]()

Would Eric and the site get government funding if we used the union label? I'm kidding...

What about the student union back in college?
Merriam- Webster -
definition 2a: a confederation of independent individuals (as nations or persons) for some common purpose
definition 2c: an organization on a college or university campus providing recreational, social, cultural, and sometimes dining facilities; also : the building housing such an organization
How about "Banjo Hangout where people hang out to discuss all aspects of banjos, banjo music, and other things that pop up now and then"
Ken_in_IN - Posted - 04/03/2011: 10:29:26
We're only at 5 pages of replies drew - good threads go at least 12 don't they? :-)
minstrelmike - Posted - 04/03/2011: 11:06:58
I'm glad the signatures are gone.
The political/religious ones weren't nearly as obnoxious to me as the ultra-long ones advertising three different web sites for learning banjo.
Different strokes for different folks.

I don't think so; this is not primarily about certain members' feelings of inadequacy, as justified as those feelings may be. This little move, one of very many I have seen lately, is at intent on dragging the BHO into politics.

Just so you guys don't waste your time (or your finger movements, as it were)--I'm not going to change the Players Union name. Feel free to talk about it all you want, I guess, but just so everyone knows--it ain't happening.
bluemule_77 - Posted - 04/07/2011: 08:22:16
I've joined. Union or not... I've received too much benefit from this site to not contribute.
Just wish I could get the case stickers even though I opted out of the shirt. Great logo -- just don't wear T-shirts where they can be seen.
Brian

Brian--you can always send me a letter requesting case stickers!

Hi, Eric...
I really like the new Union t-shirt! The design and the shirt color are the nicest yet.
Very good work!
regards,
stanger

Yes, indeed! Scott's design last year was good (I'm wearing it right now!), but this one is even better.
The Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, has been commissioning silk 'wild rags' (big neckerchiefs) for 30 years, and many of them are now fetching high collector's prices. I think the Union t-shirts may end up being collectible too, in time.
regards,
stanger

My apologies to any member of that group I might have offended. I don't think they are even related to the folks I mean. There is a "stirring up trouble for the sake of stirring up trouble bunch around here, but anyone with that group name - is too much fun to be a problem.

Thanks Tony! I think we knew that, but it never hurts to be told.

Geez Lee! Now you are in danger of losing your malcontent/poser status!
Try this instead: Woodchuck - You think we are "fun"? We're "funny" how? We're "funny" like a clown?!?! We amuse you?!?!? We're here to make you laugh?!?!?
(I wanted to post the Good Fellas clip, but never realized until now just how much foul language is in that scene.)![]()

I'm going to keep the faith in Lee, and assume that his reply was dripping with sarcasm.
