From the backwards, backwoods, moss-covered, bear-infested, alligator riddled, woods-surrounded banjo laboratory of BanjoTom2, comes 1 new addition to the Hartford collection.
Below is the total collection as of 6-16-2009.
What I have are my 'arrangements' rather than transcriptions or attempts at transcriptions. They are in G and in Scruggs style and arranged to capture the melody and spirit of the tune in question.
None of them are 'note-for-note' transcriptions of Hartford's exact style.
Having said that, I'll send them to anyone who is interested in John's music.
My preference is to work with BHO members.
1. Boogie
2. Cuckoo's Nest (Performed, but not written by Hartford)
3. Don't Leave Your Records In The Sun
4. First Girl I Loved
5. Gentle On My Mind
6. Good Old Electric Washing Machine (Circa 1943)
7. Granny Won'tcha Smoke Some...
8. Gum Tree Canoe
9. I'm Still Here (Added 6-1-2009)
10. In Tall Buildings
11. Let Him Go On Mama
12. Lorena (Civil War tune, performed by Hartford)
13. Old Time River Man
14. On Christmas Eve
15. Presbyterian Guitar
16. Steam Boat Whistle Blues
17. Steam Powered Aereo Plane
18. Up On The Hill Where They Do The Boogie
19. Vamp In The Middle
20. Wish We Had Our Time Again
21. "Hartford Riffology" in his Low E, Drop A tuning
22. Wrong Road Again
22. Two Hits and the Joint Turned Brown
All I need is an E-addresss....

Greetings Banjotom2!,
John was my inspiration to begin playing banjo. Anyone remember the "Great Northern Bluegrass Festival" in Mole Lake, WI? John drew thousands and thousands while he danced through the crowd.
He is so missed... I would certainly appreciate the tabs and thanks!

Just curious, banjotom2, what Hartford tabs are you offering? If your list is too long, just throw out some of the better-known highlights (if that's the right word). Thanks.

Can I jump on this too? I had the pleasure of spending part of the summer of 1979 deckhanding aboard the Julia Bele Swain with John Hartford. What a great guy..we would hang out in the pilot house with Captain Dennis Trone, and John would sit with his feet up and play away. some of the finest memeories of my life!
Many Thanks
Lynn

Thanks for the tabs Tom - very quick turnaround.
And to confuse folk "blimey" is often done as "Gorblimey" which is a shortening of "Oh Gawd Blimey" - which lends weight to my thesis that "blimey" is "bless me" with the full sentence having as its roots "Oh God Bless Me" said in surprise, wonderment, terror or amusement.
Please don't ask me what Crikey means, as no-one says that in Australia, no matter what the late Steve Irwin would have you believe.
