Does anyone know anything about the Grover 5/8 compensated bridge? Is it any good? It is maple w/ an ebony top, and man is it compensated! It looks really cool, but does it work? Does it solve any intonation problems? And, its only $7.99 at www.luthierparts.com

At that price, why not? I put a Grover on my Goodtime before selling it, since I wanted to keep the bridge I'd had on it, and I was actually pretty impressed with the sound. 'Course it was only a Goodtime..

I have an old one in a banjo case somewhere. I think you it will help with intonation problems if you actually have them. Bart Veerman here at BHO has detailed instructions on discovering the amount of compensation you will need for each string at his website. He gets lots of compliments on the bridges he makes. I would recommend to improve the sound or remedy a compesation problem on your banjo to try a custom made bridge. I've found them the fastest cheapest way to make my banjos sound better. I gotta recommend Katz Eye bridges. I tried one to replace a Grover and was impressed with the huge difference it made. I recently changed out another custom bridge with a Katz Eye and although the improvement was in no way as drastic as replacing the Grover it was an improvement. I ordered two more just recently for other banjos.

I have had those bridges on some banjos in the past. They did improve the intonation conciderably. Like what Zach says, at the price it is worth it.

I don't know if it is Grover or not. I suspect it may be Asian.
