Hi, Looking for some advice: I've just bought a beautiful Windsor Monarch De Luxe, which i intend to use along with my John Grey 19 fret tenor for irish traditional music. My question is, that if I am capo ing at the 2nd or 3rd fret to get GDAE, what would be the string gauges required to produce that result? I got the banjo at a very good price, so I am keen to use it for ITM.
And another thing: although the banjo is listed in the 1932 catalogue, as the Monarch De Luxe, the label on the dowel, says "Popular" Did Windsor use the same necks for a lot of their higher end output, or do you think this maybe not its original neck??, It's confusing to me especially as the headstock is very highly ornamented, and not at all like the Populars I have seen.
I hope that with the vast accumulated knowledge of this esteemed forum you can help me out! Thanks, Harry
I use Elixirs - honestly I buy them in singles - batches of 30 at a time!!
