Is it getting more difficult to find true pumpkin flavor, instead of the seemingly the more common pumpkin "spices" flavor in desserts? I actually desire the taste of pumpkin fruit and not only the popular spices used to enhance the taste of pumpkin. Often pumpkin flavor is only the spices disguised with some orange food coloring. Yea, I can still buy or make a pumpkin pie, but like it in cakes, ice cream, etc.

The annual fall hype w.r.t. pumpkin doesn't float my boat ..... though thankfully it hasn't dampened my enjoyment of pumpkin pie. 
[An occasional muffin, is okay too, and they make good Hallowe'en decorations.

I don’t think you guys would be onboard, but I have a nasty sweet tooth and recently tried Cedar brand pumpkin hummus.
I know, it seems off putting right out of the gate. But it veers heavily into the sweet spiced pumpkin side of things in a good dessert-ish sort of way with some salted pita chips! Definitely give it a shot if you’re into that sort of thing.
That said… I hear yah. Sometimes just a bit of the more natural pumpkin flavor hits the spot! My grandmother used to make a very simple, non spiced pumpkin pie... I think she got the recipe off of a 50's/60's Libby's pumkin can. It remains my favorite pie ever.

My wife always insists on Libby's canned pumpkin and its recipe as well. Of course she may be your grandmothers age, as well? Brad

I just tried a piece of the Trader Joe's and it actually does taste of pumpkin, not just the spices. I'm rather surprised.
One slice of pumpkin pie a year is enough for me , but Mrs. Slammer makes some mean pumpkin bars wit da cream cheese frosting. Freakin love those.
In fact, I’m gonna ask her to make some today!!!
