I need some help.... had a Pro Pik Blue Chip thumb pick for about 5 years..... I didn't realize how much I like it until it broke (plastic part broke in two) last week. I have searched high and low and six ways from Sunday....... SOLD OUT is all I come up with...
deering, banjo ben, Elderly, banjoteacher, southpaw instruments, not to mention numerous other websites, all seem to be NOT available in my size- LARGE LEFT. I am a lefty. now as a possible alternative i looked at the "SUPER TONE" Can anyone comment on how these two (Blue Chip vs Super Tone) differ if at all? Can you tell the difference?
SO, Can someone be a kind mensch and poke around- perhaps deep in the bowels of the internet- and find a LARGE LEFT Blue Chip thumb pick? I would be most appreciative...... Keep Pickin!
Hello, Blue Chip has three different picks in a large (not including their resonator picks).
The 1L shop.bluechippick.net/bct-1l/
The JDL shop.bluechippick.net/bct-jdl/
The BRL shop.bluechippick.net/bct-brl/
The JD looks shorter by a little bit than the other two. The BR is sharp/more curved and the 1 is their original model I believe. I've never used them before but that is their official website I'm certain.

Pro Pick and Blue Chip are two different things. Which one do you mean?
Onto a tangent [again!!!], but I'd like to see makers that have a poly/plastic/?? blade on a metal band attach them with rivets ... rivets that any competent putterer could manage if/when a blade gets worn/broken. Mucho easier to do a couple of rivets than getting a new metal band to fit like the old one, IMNSHumbleO.
It was painful to justify the cost, but a few months ago I bought a second set of Shellor finger picks and an extra Blue Chip JD after a bit of an availability dry spell.
I keep them in a safe, within a windowless reinforced concrete structure, surrounded by an alligator-filled moat… beyond which lies an expansive minefield across a 200 yard perimeter.
This after nearly having my picks stepped on and irreparably mangled on the floor of a gig. Made me think, I really should have extras…
Owen The blade on Blue Chips is attached with two rivets. Is that what you're looking for? Though I don't think they sell just blade replacements. Maybe if you asked 'em.
I was just making a general comment ... on the assumption that most pick makers would read it
and maybe give it the consideration it deserves. ![]()
I like my ACRI picks a lot, even though IMNSHumbleO, replaceable blades* would be a good upgrade [esp. in light of the considerable "surgery" I did to get the bands to fit just right]. I'm not aware of ever having seen a Blue Chip pick.
* plenty of "stuff" laying about my shop that I think (?) might work.
