i been with the same company for my homeowners for 40 years..
never filed a claim in that time.
last year they went up about 500 bucks... and had my house house down as 300k to replace...... this year they went up another 200 bucks.. i had had enough.
so i go visiting some local companies including my car insurance company office , i made copies of my new policy from the one i had been with.
i left a copy with 4 different agents... guess what ! all but one was anywhere from 500 to 800 dollars cheaper then what i had for 40 years...
i decided to go with my car insurance company . they saved me 809 dollars a year PLUS my car insurance dropped 11 dollars every 3 months.

they are a great company and i have never ever had a problem with any claim on our vehicles.
today was a good day for the wallet !!!!!!!!!!

he told me my old company had my replacemant value about 50 thousand to much.... i knew it was because i has a friend of a friend  who is a contractor come by last week and give me and est on what it would cost to replace and his figure was way less then the ins company was.....   so i guess i should have been more aware of what was going on in that dept.

A couple of years ago, I asked my (independent) agent about switching companies for a lower rate. He suggested staying where I was because my carrier tends to pay claims fairly and without a fight—and they don’t then dump you at the policy anniversary. So I stayed. Notin so far to test my agent’s claim—and that’s fine with me.

I've checked with several companies and all of them want to price my home way above what it's worth. They don't even bother to come look at it, just take a table of home information forms and what they say it's worth and that' s what you pay.

I've stayed with the same insurance company for many years for home insurance, but they got too high on auto insurance and I found it much cheaper elsewhere. Of course that meant I couldn''t "bundle" both together so my homeowners went up.

You just can't win where insurance is concerned.

after all was said and done and i viewed the new policy,, he saved me 787.00 a year. i got 15,000 more coverage on my shop then i had before. i bundled with my car ins and its coming down 67 dollars a year.
so i am pretty pleased with the results.. of course i got a question or two about some extra charges but he is good about explaining things.
he is a local kid his family is from up here where mine is from and he is one of farm bureaus top guys in these parts. he took over for my old agent when she retired about 10 years ago.
