I retired 2 1/2 years ago at 62 and have no regrets and have not looked back. I often wonder how I had time to go to work with everything I do now , just as I did before.
I must say we are quite fortunate and started saving at a very young age and lived frugally smart, both worked full time, overtime and call, but still enjoyed life along the journey. That has allowed us to retire dept free and not have to worry about money. We both have our health and stay busy with normal chores, lots of house projects and up keep , plus travel and hobbies.
We have always taken family vacations, but since retirement, we’ve been doing some major trips ………Italy, Greece, Sicily, Malta, Maui Hawaii, North Carolina, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minnesota , New York. Lots of travel and then we also like to go camping here in da U.P. In our little camper and spend time at our hunting camp……..well, I do , LOL
Most of you know I’m an afishanodo of fishing and can’t get enough of it and also love to cook, eat great food and yuck it up a bit !!!
Then you throw in hunting and going to our camp, banjo time and practice, internet time and shopping, traveling to our son and family in Minnesota and our daughter and family in New York and visiting our mothers in Milwaukee and Illinois, and it doesn’t leave much time for sleep !!!
As I said earlier, we still have good health and that allows us to stay busy and do the things we like. It’s a lot, and I guess we should do it for as long as we can, because I’ve seen too many people who had the means and were young, and then $hit happens, and your life changes on the spot. I don’t want to be that guy that says shoulda woulda coulda !!! Do all ya can , while ya can within your means and enjoy what you have because ya worked damn hard and damn long for it !!!
Retirement is a huge adjustment and takes a while to sort things out. It was weird for a while not having to do what you were trained to do and did for 42 years, and then it just stops. Guess what? I’m OK with that!!!

It certainly has been so far. Not bragging, but that’s how it is and we worked damn hard for it and listened to a few smart people along the way. Took a few chances, won more than lost.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the most important thing or hobby………………l
ICE FISHING!! My true passion. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY , can stare down an 8 inch hole in the middle of the lake and keep yer beer from freezing better than I can!!! Just sayin!!!

What I now do instead of regular work is what I did before...play more music and shoot more pool.
