Same tone rings for both style banjos. Should be standard 11”rings—skirt length might be an issue. Assuming from your post that the t&p-flange banjo is also a flathead.

Flathead tone rings generally come in short skirt and long skirt varieties. I can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head.

If your current banjo is a cheap one it may not conform to the typical tone ring dimensions, so I would check that.

I don't know a resource for the tone ring dimensions but if you google or search enough I think you'll find it.

It is a flathead.
The outer skirt depth of the tone ring fitted, is about 1 1/2 inches, and rests on the 'belly' or 'boss' that runs around the hoop above the tube, and about 3/4 of an inch below the underside of the tension ring. The inside skirt, of course, rests on the top of the hoop.
I see that the outer skirt of most standard tone rings, is around 1/2 inch, which means that if I fitted one of those, the outer skirt would not be anywhere near the tube and not have a solid base. It could distort and give an uneven head tension.

I guess "it's just me", but I don't see the point of replacing the ring on a "cheaper" instrument with a top end ring like a Huber.

I think you'd do very well with something like the Sullivan "Crowe" ring, which I believe sells for around $300. Same one as Gibson used in the RB75, BlackJack, and a few other models now and then when they ran low on "regular" rings.

Appears to me to be similar construction to Gibson's Mastertone. We have no way to know your exact measurements but it is built in the same style. Exact ring measurements are exclusive to each manufacturer and I have even found differences on various rings from the same brand. I doubt there is a complete dimensions list anywhere.

I greatly value your opinion, as I have learned a couple of things from you. I've not heard of a Sullivan ring, so I'll look into that. Many thanks.

Here's what I would suggest that you do.

Measure all of the dimensions of the features of your rim that are involved in the fit of your tone ring to your rim. Contact Huber Banjo and provide them with that information. Based on that information, they should be able to tell you if they have a tone ring that will fit the rim of your banjo.
