Re. fresh garden beans, do y'all eat the tip/beak/rostrum/?? of the bean pod [down at the bottom end of the pods in this illustration], or do you trim it off prior to cooking?

I always trimmed both ends before cooking.

Most green beans I will trim stem end off. If haricots verts, I sometimes do no trimming. We just went through a pound of em this weekend. Brad

For a lot of vegetables trimming, perhaps a question is, do you snap ends off or cut them off? Brad

Cut 'em .... 'cept for cucumbers some of the time.   One of my reasons to grow a garden is the cucumbers [preferably eaten with salt, but okay without].   The ends of some are slightly bitter (?), so after peeling, I either cut the ends off, or bite them off and spit(?) them into the compost container.

Us kids would get a pail full to snip the ends off and then snap them in half. We had big vegetable gardens.

Snip and leave long. Bunch 4 or 5 together and wrap in bacon and put on greased foil on cookie sheet . Pinch of salt and garlic powder, bake at 375 till bacon is done. Great easy side dish even if you’re not a bean fan.
