Here is another beautifully and tastefully arranged Clawhammer arrangement of this old Sam and Kirk McGhee tune, by David Brooks...Jack   p.s. I don't think this is the Sam and Kirk McGhee version...

I remember back in the day when every guitar fingerpicker was almost obliged to know six or eight iconic tunes, and "Buckdancer" was one of them.

I think this is Bob Fletcher's version:  https://youtu.be/RXvPoFVkGV4 . It is similar to  .Sam McGee's version: https://youtu.be/1k8qjCNlp_0 (this recording is from 1926!). Sam McGee made several recordings through the years and each time he played different. I will post a banjo version of of McGee's version.

Here is a tab of the original version of Sam McGee 1926: https://www.banjohangout.org/tab/browse.asp?m=detail&v=29443 . The tab contains both a clawhammer version and a guitar transcription of McGee's recording from 1926. It is said that this is the first recorded guitar instrumental in the Country field. Sam McGee learned the tune from a black guitar player, so the song is older.
