In regards to Paul's issue, I see that some areas of BHO call a profile by member id#, and other areas of BHO call a profile by user name.
The only difference between the two Pauls is that plus sign "+" in the user name. When the profile is called for by username, the Canadian Paul is Paul+R. The other Paul is PaulR. Somewhere along the way the plus sign is being deleted and landing on the PaulR page.
So, Eric, where in your code is the plus sign being cleaned / removed? That's where you should look. You don't need to replicate the problem. That's the problem.
In regards to MY issue, I give up. It still does not work.
