... you mean this Garry Ungar?  https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=5518 wink

I had the Argos/Blue Bumblers game on, but did catch the last 1/2 min. of Bruins/Hawks reg. time ... intended to catch the last half of OT, but it seems the Bruins had other ideas.   Furthermore and moreover.... where's Jackie with a smile of approval??

Skip has been busy staking out the geese in his pond lately, so…… but Jackie’s looking a bit different lately for some unknown reason……

Lard tunderin' jay-sus!!   Skip, save us all ... forget the geese... there's more important work ^^ to do!!

Too bad Mrs. Lindsay didn't have hockeydb and/or the all-knowing Google AI at her disposal: "Garry Unger (spelled with an e) is the famous Canadian former NHL hockey player. Known as the "Iron Man," he played 914 consecutive regular-season games."

[Fwiw, I had considered putting "Once a teacher, always a teacher." in t'other thread, but decided against it. sad ]

There's something odd going on this Hallowed Oct. 31,, hmmm

p.s., another wrinkle - Jay Ungar, fiddler, is the composer of "Ashokan Farewell" that was the theme for Ken Burns/Berns/Byrnes' documentary "The Civil War".

I have one of these Gordy Howe cards .... a couple of dealers in Winnipeg offered me $50; I figure the misspelling alone should be worth 50, so it looks like it'll "eventually" (?) fall to my executrix to figure out.

Gordie Howe 1958-59 Topps, #8, misspelled as Gordy, PSA Good 2, V310-2, HOF | eBay

There's till a few geese loitering around here, but not many.   Bigger proportion of snows [and maybe Ross's?] than earlier on.

We had some of these Shirriff hockey coins, maybe 25 of’em. My brother, who keeps just about everything (he still had Hallowe’en candy left in May) and kept the “Tall Boy” hockey cards (I think 1963-64 ?) did not! keep the “Gord Howe” coin…. sheesh

In addition to that beautiful afternoon light, one of the nice things about having swans in the neighborhood is that they positively hate Canada geese and tend to drive them off toot sweet. Which suits me fine. Canada geese almost certainly have their virtues, especially when one can enjoy hearing and seeing them in the air. Upon landing, however, they become mobile turd factories of impressive output.

I deserve better. And so does she.

But, but, but, I dunno if I could take much more of those b.s. uniforms..... maybe it serves 'em right??

Fwiw, the brown/gold ^^ looked pretty good on the U of Manitoba Bisons back in the day [National Champs in 1966 yes ....  but pretty slim pickings since then].

I'd have a bit more respect for whoever makes the decisions if they'd just be up front and honest,  even just a little bit.   Never mind the absolute b.s. about, "... uniquely and authentically celebrate the fans, city, and local culture etc."  and just say it's an out-and-out money grab.

I'd like to think that the League knows that its clientele (the fans) is sufficiently intelligent to see that, and is happy to spend anyway.

But judging by some of the commentary I see on various hockey boards and social media strings.... well... that's probably a loftier assessment than it deserves.

People get into this whole “collecting” thing,, buying up any merch that a team throws out there….it went from a pack of hockey cards for 5 cents to a sweater/Joizy fer $120. I knew à gal that had a walk-in closet full of shoes and leather handbags - she’d watch the shopping channel and next thing ya know another one was out for delivery. (now, if yer tawkin’ BeeHive Corn Syrup hockey cards or Shirriff pudding hockey coins, well, that’s another matter….)
