Please look for Ken Burns' Country Music Documentary next September on PBS.

Two of my photographs have been confirmed to be included. I was told the film is "locked".
I guess this is as firm as something like this can be.
These are the two images...

The Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association just hosted The Bluegrass Characters for a very
entertaining concert. After their leader Stacy Phillips passed away suddenly, they decided
to carry on the Characters tradition. With my good friend Phil Zimmerman on mandolin,
Andy Bromage on guitar, and Pete Kelly on bass, this configuration includes two HVBA
friends (and mine too), Sofia Chiarandini on fiddle and Jerry Oland on banjo.
Enjoy the first of two sets.

I've been looking forward to sharing this event for a long time.
The project journey and the music are absolutely stunning.
Yes, I'm biased since my good friend Akira Otsuka, along with his now-departed project partner Ronnie Freeland, are the nucleus of this project, started in 2002!
This is the first half of an hour at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival with Akira, Ron Thomason, Kitsy Kuykendall, Jerry Douglas, and moderator Tim Kruzic, as they tell stories of John Duffey and this amazing journey...

I'm proud to share with you the final segment about this historic project. My friend Akira Otsuka, along with his now-departed project partner Ronnie Freeland, are the nucleus of this journey, started in 2002! This event was held on the Creekside Stage at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival with Akira, Ron Thomason, Kitsy Kuykendall, Jerry Douglas, and moderator Tim Kruzic, as they tell stories of John Duffey and this amazing journey...
Martin Beckman, with the help of his daughter Natalie, has generously shared their recordings and photos of the band he was in, The Dixie Bluegrass Boys, in what he said was the last performance of the full band. We both have interest in our mutual departed friend, banjoist Al Osteen.
Martin picked while Natalie recorded and took photos.

Sam Cobb-bass, Curtis Blackwell-guitar, Martin Beckman-guitar, Al Osteen-banjo
I've also added links to my Al Osteen tribute http://frobbi.org/audio/alosteen.html

Here's another talented local band of the four that performed for the Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association at their annual show for the Arlington (NY) Street Fair.

I thought about showing my own brief backstage clips of Sam at the 2010 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival,
but asked "Revival: The Sam Bush Story" co-creator Wayne Franklin if it would do any harm.
He immediately said, "Go for it!". So what the heck...
