Hi Folks,
I'm new here and have posted this elsewhere. Since I found this forum, I thought I'd share it here. These recordings are by me but not of me (fortunately!)
Go to my page frobbi.org/picking.html
On the Culpeper-Warrenton link you'll hear Alan Munde and Bill Keith along with more superstars from 1973 - my most memorable recording. On the Walker link you'll hear Allen Shelton from 1969.
You'll also find links to my videos.
Enjoy!
Fred

I just added two great links to my list.
Orrin Star & Gary Mehalick at the Towne Crier Cafe, Beekman, NY, ca. 1975
frobbi.org/audio/Star-Mehalick...-Set1.mp3
frobbi.org/audio/Star-Mehalick...-Set2.mp3
Note, my mics were on the instruments so the voices are way down.
It's mostly flatpicking, but Star also picks up the 5-string.
Be sure to visit (and thanks to)
Towne Crier Cafe at townecrier.com/
and
Orrin Star at orrinstar.com/
With the help of Hot Rize's Pete Wernick and Tim O'Brien, as well as Phil Ciganer of the Towne Crier Cafe (Pawling, NY), I'm able to add the 1981 Towne Crier performance of Hot Rize along with Red Knuckles & The Trailblazers to my Picking page at frobbi.org/picking.html
I just talked to Bill Keith and also got an OK from the Towne Crier Cafe's Phil Ciganer, so I can make available my recording
of the Bill Keith Band at the Towne Crier from 1981.
Please see my Picking page at frobbi.org/picking.html

I'm really happy to announce I'm now able to make available my recordings of the Stone Mtn. Boys with Byron Berline. They were made at the Red Horse Inn in Alexandria, La., in 1969, while I was in the army at Ft Polk and had met Byron there.
The pickers are:
Mitchell Land - mandolin
Eddie Shelton - banjo
Lonnie Craft - guitar
Tootie Williams - bass
Byron Berline - fiddle
Mitch, Eddie, and Lonnie are now deceased.
Byron and Eddie's daughter have given me permission to make the recordings available.
Byron assures me that Tootie, who has no computer or email, would be OK too.
Please see my Picking page at frobbi.org/picking.html
I just "discovered" another of my cassette recordings:
Wildcat Creek
Towne Crier Cafe, Beekman, NY
ca. 1978
Skip Arthur - guitar, mandolin, lead and tenor vocals
Arlin Greene - bass guitar, tenor/lead
Ronnie Sutton - dobro
Jerry Oland - banjo, vocals
Direct Links:

It's also now on my Picking Page at frobbi.org/picking.html
My thanks to Jerry Oland for helping me organize and clean up the recordings.
Enjoy!
I've recently added all my 2009 Grey Fox videos and a 1981 Fiddle Fever show.

Many thanks Robbif!, great stuff, gonna take me a while to work through it.

I just "discovered" some more of my recordings.
These 3 are from the 1973 Culpeper-Warrenton Festival:
- Country Gentlemen (sorry about the lousy quality of this one!)
- Doc & Merle Watson
- Peter Rowan, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements, & Tex Logan
You'll see them marked as NEW.
Disclaimer: These were recording on a tiny Sony piano-key mono cassette recorder with
a builtin microphone.
Check them out on my Picking Page.
If you haven't heard it, be sure to check out the jam session right above those 3.
It's loaded with stars.
Enjoy!
I just "discovered" a couple more dusty cassettes.
The latest are more from the Berkshire Mountains Festival:
- Lester Flatt & the Nashville Grass 1978
- Pine Island 1978
- Dan Crary 1980
You find them on my usual Picking Page at frobbi.org/picking.html marked NEW.
Please help yourself and enjoy!
Hi Folks,
Me again. OK, no more about "discovered" and "dusty" cassettes. I just finally got around to working on these...
Vassar Clements at the Last Chance Saloon in Poughkeepsie, NY - 1976
The night of music was scattered in a whole bunch of segments over 3 cassettes. I think there were 3 sets with a lot of repeated songs. I put the segments together as best I could into 5 parts.
As usual, the links are marked NEW on my Picking Page at frobbi.org/picking.html
Help yourself!
I just digitized what I believe is another real treat for you.
The 2nd Annual Fiddlers Gathering at the Towne Crier Cafe (Beekman, NY) from 1979.
It's loaded with well-known talented musicians and the music ranges from bluegrass to string quartet.
(And yes, you'll hear some banjo!)
Check it out (marked NEW) on my Picking Page at frobbi.org/picking.html
