This is a song I wrote about a mine disaster on the Cuyuna Iron Range in Minnesota. As a young boy, my cousin and I used to ride our bikes about 3 or 4 miles to a small town named Cuyuna to visit his Grandma. She would tell us stories, often about things back in Croatia, or what she called "the old country," and feed us cookies and kool-aid. This song is based on a story she told us one time about a dream she had the night before the mine disaster in February of 1924. As you listen you'll hear the story unfold The facts in the song that go along with what she told us are true. I'm playing a banjo Wyatt Fawley made, Webber mandolin for the chop, and my Larrivee D60 guitar.

You got my toes tapping on this one Dave!  Great lyrics and tune.  It makes me glad that I'm not a miner.  What a life!

Good song. I lost relitives in the Milford. The song about Peter Magdich. Well he left a wife and 5 children, ages 1 to 11. Peter came over from Croatia. His father Matt also worked at the Milford but wasn`t working that day. The youngest child lives only one house form me. Her name is Katy. If there is anyway for me to get a copy of this song so she could hear it, it would be nice. Sue
