Was just goofing around last night and decided to record a track of each banjo for comparing them, The first two are the two I play the most. I had trouble with the bakelite one as the fingerboard is narrower. The tune is Old Moll Hare, OK, so I committed the worst crime in the world of banjos - played CH on resonator banjos. I was going to take the resonators off, but it was getting late. Lorna

When I turned 64, I decided I wanted to make a banjo. That was the one I made. It has a lot of things wrong with it, and intonation problems that took nearly a year to resolve. But when I strung it up and played it for the first time, I cried because it sounded so sweet. It was made from some mahogany bed slats, that probably went back 25 to 30 years! Well aged wood.
