Not exactly like Tom Adams plays it. I had to change some fingering to make it easier for me to learn it. I have always wanted to learn this tune so I've been working on it now for about a week. I put a guitar and bass track in it to hide my goof ups.

Great Job, sounded wonderful. Great song to play with a haunting sadness to it.

That sounded great!  I never thought about this one for the banjo, but it sounded right at home there.  Not shabby at all for a novice.  Kudos, and thanks for the post.

Wonderful job.  I have heard a lot of pickers fill this up with way too many notes, creating a tour de force on the banjo but ruining the whole feeling of the tune in the process. But you have shown restraint, and have come up with a very graceful piece.

Thanks for the kind words Tam and Don. I wanted to learn this tune for several years but thought it was a little over my head. I just decided to buckle down and work out a section at a time from tab until it all came together.

Hi Tim

What do you know of the origin of this tune?

It seems to have a Celtic ring to it possibily Irish.

Hi Tam,

If you'll click on the link I provided it will give some information on the origin of the tune. It's a great tune. I first heard it when my son,who plays the violin, was playing it one day.

Thank you John and Laura. My Son plays a wonderful version on the violin. One day we'll record us both playing. I just can't seem to convert him over to bluegrass. lol. He likes classical.
