Kind of a rough beginning and a rough ending, but almost sort of ok in the middle. Kind of. I almost went faster than I could keep up with.

Clearly you were already a musician before you picked up the banjo... I believe you mentioned something about a fiddle. Excellent playing. You have a really long last name though... is that Eastern European? Or is that the Gaelic spelling?

Hi Nelson,
Thanks so much. Yes, I play fiddle and that's also me playing guitar in the clip as well. It IS a long last name, isn't it? You'd be surprised how many people have no trouble pronouncing it, though. That would be the Gaelic spelling, yes. Haha

WOW! That is very, very good for someone with four months of learning! Nice going, Erin!

Erin -
You do a great job with this song. At three or four months in I was still fumbling through Cripple Creek and Bill Cheatam. Blackberry is not an easy song, but it is a great song. Congratulations on your new instrument.

Hi Craig,
Thanks! I am still fumbling through a lot of easier songs... for example, I am having a horrible time playing Grandfather's Clock smoothly. No clue why. I know it's an easier song than this one. For some reason, my fingers just like Blackberry Blossom, I guess. Go figure. I haven't even learned Bill Cheatam yet... I seem to always go about things in the most backward fashion possible!

This sounds really good Stutterin! Do you have a tab of this arrangement? I'm not in love with the version that I learned
thanks
Tony

Hi Banjov1,
I'm so sorry, I actually don't read tab at all... this is just what I picked out on my own based on how my dad plays it. If you'd like, I can post a slow version of it so you can hear exactly what I'm doing...

That would be cool but don't go through too much effort, I'm not sure how much time I'll get to pick it out.
thanks though
Tony

Hey Stutterin,
I actually had some time and took your recording and slowed it down to half speed via Windows Media Player and figured out how to play your version.
Your playing was very clean and it made it easy to pick out.
thanks
Tony

Hey Tony!
That's great! I'm so pleased you were able to work it out. Thanks for letting me know, as I'd planned on recording it slower for you this week. That's one less to-do! Wahoo!
Take care.
Erin

4 months of pickin only? Very good! I would like to hear some fiddle of you, too.
