Muleskinner Blues like Derroll Adams sang it (more or less), not played it: three-finger picking, no picks, Clifford Essex openback banjo, Nylgut strings, vocals.

Your Clifford Essex is a really nice sounding banjo--records great too!

Thank you, Mary, for your comment. It really is a great sounding banjo. It's an original 5-string early C.E. Special model without any tonering whatsoever, just a tapered rim. It currently has a real skin head (Goldtone), Nylgut strings and a Moon bridge; the Renaissance head is very good too. It also sounds great with steel strings.

I've always liked Mule Skinner Blues. I was very forturnate to have heard it done by Bill Monroe himself at a bluegrass festival in Tennessee back in 1972. Once again. Nice job on this one Emiel.

Love your rendition of Muleskinner Blues as well as the tone of your banjo. Do you know where I could get the tabs? Best regards.

Thank. Sorry, but I'm not aware of any tabs.
