This is played on my fretless minstrel banjp that I built from a Bob Flesher kit. Skin head and gut strings. It's tuned down in D which was pretty common in the 1850s or so I'm told.

That sounded superlatively fantastic! I'm going to have to get me one of those fretless banjos (kit or otherwise) some time. Thanks for the post.
