A tune played by the local fiddllers. I play it in A out of G tuning;it works out pretty easy.

Nice. Gives it an unusual sort of sound, picked out of G like that.

Another new one for me. Nice clear playing wish I could do that.

AWESOME! I love this. I was noodling along and ... for a variation on the A Part, you might try doing a John Hartford chromatic thing by using MIMT rolls and hitting the 9th and 7th frets of the B and D strings respectively (for the A chord) and then move the position down two frets (7th and 5th frets) for the G chord, also bending the B-string up a semitone Hartford style.
You can keep the same roll and combine these positions in different ways, also trying other variations using the roll, also using the third string instead of the second - 9th and 7th frets (A), then 7th and 5th frets (G), or, alternatively, the 6th and 5th frets and bending the 6th fret of the third string up a semitone ... for something really unusual and microtonal. ;-)
The Mixolydian nature and key (A) of this tune makes it a perfect candidate for standard G tuning and the melodic style. It's a keeper for sure. Great stuff Steve. I needed something to kick me in the ass, and that did it!

It sounds a bit manic, but it a good and intentional way. Great tone and clean picking.
