This is an original instrumental composed by my friend Bob Key who is playing mandolin on this clip. Bob Key grew up and still lives in Glendale, SC only a few miles from Converse, SC where Bobby Thompson grew up, and thew were childhood friends. Bob remained friends and visited Bobby often after he became well established in the Nashville music scene. Anyway, Bob composed this cool instrumental honoring his friend Bobby Thompson, and I spent a little time learning the melodic runs Bob came up with on mandolin to mimic how he felt Bobby would have played something like this. It's a very fun tune to pick. This recording was made using my Zoom H2 in my living room on August 20, 2015, just me (banjo), Bob Key (mandolin) and Dickie Brown (guitar) noodling around on some tunes. This little self-contained nugget is worth sharing I think. So here ya go, BHO — the world premier of this cool tune dedicated to Bobby Thompson. I hope you enjoy :)
