last track on Banjo Suite 2, commissioned for a friend's 60th birthday (Bob). It was supposed to be Polish sounding, so after listening to Polish folk music the only aspect I could incorporate was a pattern of moving back and forth from major to minor key. He grew up in remote northern Manitoba on the Fir River and the river was a source of sustenance with joy and sorrow. There are some added banjo tracks to mimic the babbling sound. I added a simple djembe with shaker.

Another good composition. Despite being half-Polish in ancestry, I don't pretend to know what Polish sounding music would be, but I wouldn't have guessed this was. Very nice, nonetheless.

you're absolutely right. I couldn't figure out how to compose something in that style/tradition. I don't think there's one sound, but the only thing that appealed to me about some of the music was the way it shifted back and forth from major to minor.
My initial drum track was a First Nations type of rhythm which Bob really liked, but I preferred the more elongated rhythm.
