Banjo enters following a double bass intro. As usual, listen with good hi-fi speakers or headphones (not on laptop speakers). Otherwise the bass part will not sound as intended. Personnel: Banjo - Frank M. Wing III, Double Bass - Robert Hall

Well, that was interesting, definitely one of the most unique things I have heard lately. Were you playing bass? I was also wondering when the banjo kicked in :)

No, I play in a duo with my friend Bob Hall who plays the bass. We love trying to find different kinds of tunes that we can adapt to the combination of banjo and bass. It can be tricky. With only 2 instruments, both are very exposed, and you have to look for different ways to keep the tune interesting from beginning to end. For example, in a 5 piece bluegrass band, the most obvious thing to try first is to pass the melody around to the different instruments. We do that with our duo, but because we only have 2 instruments, have to avoid playing the same kinds of things over and over again. We have as much fun arranging and experimenting as we do just playing the tunes.
