There are a few tunes called Speed the Plough; the one I play (especially at English morris dance sessions) is totally different. I liked what you played - but it was totally unfamiliar to me. I notice you spelt it plough though- not the lazy American "plow" :-) .

Thanks for listening, Chris. The new Adam Hurt CD has a close version to this and he says he got it from the Beers family, which you can find on the Fiddlers Companion site. But then I listened to the Henry Reed version, whose recordings are always historically interesting to me and I came up with the middle part, very different from Adam's and closer to the more traditional way I've heard. I read that Captain Francis O'Neill found the original composer of this song and it's over 200 years old. It's not one I'd bring to a jam, but it's been fun to research and learn more about it.

Nice one Janet... and a HNY to you as well!

Thanks Ken. We've both found a modern, young clawhammer tunesmith--Adam Hurt--to be a valuable learning resource. I'm working on his "Richmond," too.

Janet, I had heard Adam Hurt's version, then went looking for a tab, but the one on the Hangout seems unrelated, as far as I can tell. So glad to find you playing this - sounds wonderful, and will be a real help to me in trying to learn it!

I'd be glad to give you my tab, but first I'd like to transfer the hand written one to TablEdit.

Janet, I would really appreciate your tab, but only when it's convenient for you. Will hugely accelerate the learning process. Thank you so much!

I can post on the BHO tab. I'm thinking to do the simpler version, not the Henry Reed one yet. I should have it by tomorrow and will let you know.

The tab is up now. If you send me your email I can also send it directly to you as both a midi file and a PDF. Have fun, retread!

Janet, I just saw your tab post (it's been a busy week!). No need for the email, I've downloaded. Thank you so very much!
