Very nice Janet. Just finished posting a tune and had my guitar in hand so I played along with you.

That's almost a "collab."

Wonderful interpretation of this tune and great execution--as usual!. One of my favorites of yours.

Thanks, ramjo. Coming from you, who has "old-timey" music inside you, that means a lot. It was interesting to figure it out. I like to re-tune as little as possible, so only the bottom D string got lowered to a C, and used melodic and chordal fingering.

Janet I recently started playing this tune too. It has a great feel about it. You do a lovely job with it, as we have come to expect a great sound every time we click on janetjukebox!

When learning it, I checked BHO and found an archived thread about Catlettsburg, and the lack of tabs for it, especially Adam Hurt's good version. I went ahead and did it by listening to J.P. Fraley with a slow-downer. I like his voicing, but I did the first part like Ed Haley's. Thanks, Christine, for the nice words. Maybe you'll post yours, too. It would make a great Tune of the Week to research Ed Haley's life and the town he settled in.

Great Tune of the week for sure. I so enjoy the sound of the banjo and fiddle together, so for now I have made back-up banjo my immediate goal, maybe I'll get brave on a different tune soon. Keep em coming.

Janet, that is a beautiful song. Never heard of it or heard it before. You've introduced me to a lot of good songs over the last year, so thanks for that! This song really flows well. The melody is really attractive and appealing to listen to, and you make it work. Sounds like the song was meant for you!

That is such a pretty song – especially the way you've played it!

Thanks, Michael. Catlettsburg must be proud of having had Ed Haley settle there. I wonder how they honor him....
