Andy, thanks for the kind words. I've used all sorts of heads in the past and have settled on using a fiber-skin head (Elite brand). I'd probably be using calfskin if it didn't loosen up so much on the rare occasions that we actually experience humidity here in the West.
I have tabs on my website (banjoutah.com) as well as blogs, articles, and a forum; all promoting "progressive clawhammer" banjo. If you are interested in experimenting with different genres of music (other than old-time) on your banjo, you should consider joining the forum.
